Seoul
Data Operations Manager
Jun 18, 2026
The Role
Config is building the data infrastructure for general-purpose bimanual robotics. At the core of that mission is our data studio network — physical operations in Seoul and Hanoi where human demonstrators generate the real-world manipulation data that trains our models. These studios are the engine of what we build.
As Data Operations Manager at Config, you will orchestrate everything that makes those studios run: studio-level execution, operator workforce management, data collection scheduling, quality control processes, and the operational feedback loop between our studios and our research and engineering teams. You will be the connective tissue between the physical world where data is generated and the technical teams that turn that data into models.
This is a high-ownership, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of operations, logistics, and physical AI. You will report directly to the COO and work daily with Research, Platform, and Forward-Deployed Engineering teams.
Areas You May Contribute To
- Own end-to-end operations of Config's data studios in Seoul and Hanoi — staffing, scheduling, throughput targets, and day-to-day execution.
- Manage and develop the studio operator teams across both sites, including shift leads and data collection staff; coordinate with HR on hiring plans for studio headcount.
- Translate task requirements from Research and Engineering into studio-level collection plans — what tasks to collect, at what volume, under what conditions, and with what equipment configuration.
- Monitor and maintain data collection quality across sites: implement QC checkpoints, review error rates, and work with technical teams to resolve systematic issues in the data pipeline.
- Drive cross-site coordination between Seoul and Hanoi: align on schedules, share operational learnings, and ensure consistent standards across both studios.
- Build and maintain operational dashboards and reporting for studio throughput, quality metrics, and resource utilization — giving Research and Leadership real-time visibility into data pipeline health.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase the speed, quality, and cost-efficiency of data collection.
- Support the onboarding of new task types and new customers by standing up collection workflows quickly and reliably.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in operations management, preferably in a data operations, manufacturing, logistics, or technical production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-site operations and distributed teams across different time zones and cultural contexts.
- Strong process orientation — comfortable designing, documenting, and enforcing operational standards and QC workflows.
- Data-driven approach to operations: fluent with metrics, dashboards, and using quantitative signals to drive decisions.
- Excellent cross-functional communication: comfortable translating between non-technical studio operations and technical Research/Engineering teams.
- Willingness to be hands-on — this role requires being on the floor, not just behind a dashboard.
Bonus Points
- Experience in physical AI, robotics, computer vision, or data labeling/annotation operations.
- Prior experience managing operations in Vietnam or across Korea-Vietnam workflows.
- Background in lean operations, six sigma, or structured process improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with data collection tooling, annotation platforms, or robotic teleoperation systems.
- Experience at a high-growth, early-stage technology company.
Location
📍 242 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul (5 min walk from Yeoksam Station)
