The Role

Config is building the data and model layer for real-world robotic automation — and scaling the team that makes it possible. With operations across Seoul, San Jose, and Hanoi, and a headcount growing rapidly, we need an HR foundation that's thoughtful, fast, and built to scale.

As HR Manager at Config, you will be the first dedicated HR hire at the company. You will build our people infrastructure from the ground up — from the policies that define how we work, to the hiring plans that bring in the best researchers, engineers, and operators in the world, to the internal communications that keep a distributed, high-velocity team aligned and motivated. This is a builder role: you will create the systems, not just run them.

You will report directly to the COO and work closely with team leads and the founding team on everything from offer letters to culture-building.

Areas You May Contribute To

  • Design and implement Config's core HR policies: employment contracts, leave policies, performance review cycles, compensation frameworks, and code of conduct — across entities.
  • Own the full-cycle recruiting process for all non-technical and technical roles: job description writing, job board management, interview process design, offer management, and onboarding.
  • Build and maintain Config's annual and quarterly hiring plan in close coordination with the COO and team leads, tracking headcount against budget and operational needs.
  • Lead internal communications — company-wide announcements, all-hands preparation, and the rhythms and rituals that keep a multi-site team connected and informed.
  • Develop and manage onboarding programs that get new hires productive and culturally embedded quickly, across Seoul, San Jose, and Hanoi.
  • Manage relationships with EOR providers, local labor counsel, and HR vendors for multi-country operations.
  • Handle employee relations matters with discretion, fairness, and good judgment.
  • Build out Config's employer brand — working with the Brand Design team on careers page content, LinkedIn presence, and recruiting collateral.
  • Maintain HR systems (HRIS, ATS) and ensure employee data accuracy and compliance.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of HR experience, with at least some of that in a fast-growing startup or technology company.
  • Direct experience writing and implementing HR policies in a Korean employment context; familiarity with Korean labor law.
  • Hands-on recruiting experience — comfortable owning sourcing, screening, and closing for both technical and non-technical roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of drafting clear, crisp internal communications and policy documents in both Korean and English.
  • High organizational discipline and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping details.
  • A people-first orientation: genuinely invested in the experience and development of everyone at Config.
  • Fluency in Korean and English.

Bonus Points

  • Experience building HR from scratch at an early-stage company.
  • Familiarity with multi-country HR and employment compliance.
  • Experience working with ATS platforms (e.g. Greenhouse, Lever, Notion-based hiring workflows) and HRIS tools.
  • Background in technical recruiting (AI, robotics, engineering).
  • Experience running or contributing to employer branding programs.
